Quick facts about Spring Hill College

The first Catholic college in the Southeast, the third oldest Jesuit college in the country and the fifth oldest Catholic college in America, Spring Hill is a four-year, coeducational, liberal arts and sciences institution in a residential setting. We accept students from all religious denominations.

Location

Located near the Gulf Coast, Spring Hill is in Mobile, Alabama, a seaport metropolitan area of almost 500,000 people. Mobile is situated at the southern end of I-65 and is served from the east and west by I-10 and by various airlines. About the Gulf Coast

Campus

The campus rests on a 400-acre site, is naturally landscaped, and features huge oaks, azalea-lined walkways and an 18-hole golf course. Several buildings are listed in the National Register of Historic Places. Read more about the Spring Hill Experience.

Student Body

During the academic year, approximately 1,500 students are pursuing a degree. Of these students, 60% are Catholic, while 57% are from outside of Alabama.

Classroom Experience

90% of our faculty members hold doctorates or the highest degrees in their fields. Our student-faculty ratio is 14:1, and our average class size is 18. Academic information.

Housing

Athletics

A member of the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference, Spring Hill fields intercollegiate men's and women's basketball, cross country, golf, soccer, tennis, men's baseball and women's softball and volleyball. Financial Aid

In 2007-2008, more than 90% of our students received financial assistance, including scholarships, grants, federal loans and work-study. Admissions and Financial Aid info.

Graduates

More than one-third continue their education at select graduate and professional schools throughout the nation. Other graduates begin work at prestigious businesses and corporations. Approximately 31% of the recent graduating class completed an internship experience.

Accreditation

Spring Hill College is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (1866 Southern Lane, Decatur, Georgia 30033-4097: telephone number 404-679-4501) to award associate, baccalaureate, and master's degrees.

Professional programs are accredited by the Alabama State Board of Education, Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, and the Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs.

Calendar

The Spring Hill academic calendar is divided into two semesters, a fall semester of 15 weeks beginning at the end of August and ending before Christmas, and a spring semester of 15 weeks beginning in early January and ending in early May. There are May and June mini-sessions, and summer school is offered during June and July.
