Moch earns Daktronics-NAIA Scholar Athlete Award

LEWISTON, Idaho -- The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced on Wednesday morning that Spring Hill College baseball pitcher Michael Moch has been named a 2013 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar Athlete.

A senior left-hander from Cumming, Ga., Moch is a Business Management and Marketing major who was a two-year starter for head coach Frank Sims after a two-year career for head coach Daniel Head at Alabama Southern Community College.

Lady Badgers Play for National Championship

COLUMBUS, Ga. – The Spring Hill College Softball team will take on top seed Concordia (Calif.) in its first-ever National Championship game tonight, Thursday, May 30th at 5 p.m. EDT in Columbus, Ga.

The Lady Badgers defeated No. 2 seed Lubbock Christian (Texas), 4-2, to advance to the Championship round. Spring Hill head coach Alison Sellers-Cook couldn’t be more proud of her team, especially after a crucial seventh inning effort.

Three tennis players named Daktronics-NAIA Scholar Athletes

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced that Spring Hill College men’s tennis player Jake Lyons and women’s tennis players Shelby Fritscher and Monica Castello have been named a 2013 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar Athletes.

Lyons, a senior from Jacksonville, Ala., is a biology/pre-health major and appeared in more than 50 singles matches and more than 45 doubles matches during his four-year career at SHC. He also won the award last year as a junior.

Badgers softball to open NAIA Tournament in Hardeeville, S.C.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The 15th-ranked Spring Hill College softball team will travel to Richard Gray Baseball/Softball Complex in Hardeeville, S.C., to begin play in the Opening Round of the 2013 NAIA Softball National Championship Tournament as the No. 2 seed on Monday-Wednesday, May 13-15.

Joining Spring Hill in Hardeeville will be the No. 1 seed and host team University of South Carolina-Beaufort Sand Sharks (41-4), No. 3 University of Virginia Intermont Cobras (36-12), and No. 4 Cumberland University (Tenn.) Bulldogs (36-20).

Freshman Caroline Sagrera named NAIA Pitcher of the Week

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Spring Hill College starter Caroline Sagrera was named the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Softball Pitcher of the Week for the week of April 1-8, 2013 for her consecutive shutout performances at the University of Mobile on Saturday.

SHC softball makes NAIA Top 25

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Spring Hill College softball team was ranked No. 25 and received 103 votes in the latest NAIA Coaches Poll released on Tuesday evening.

Six other Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) teams joined SHC in the Top 25 as Lee University came in at No. 4, Auburn University at Montgomery (AUM) at No. 7, William Carey University at No. 9, Brenau University at No. 14, Belhaven University at No. 17 and the University at Mobile at No. 21.

The Badgers were last ranked April 19, 2006 at No. 25.

Spring Hill volleyball to join Women Build on April 6
