KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced on Monday afternoon that Spring Hill College volleyball players Taryn Nash and Megan Haber were named honorable mention members of the 2012 Tachikara-NAIA All-America squad.

Women’s Soccer wins third NSCAA Team Academic Award

KANSAS CITY, Kan. -- The National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) announced on Friday morning that Spring Hill College women’s soccer team was named a winner of 2011-2012 NSCAA Team Academic Award.

For the Badger ladies, this is the third time in six seasons to earn the honor having previously won the recognition following the 2007-08 and 2009-10 seasons.

A total of 497 women’s collegiate teams at all levels of competition posted a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher, thereby earning the NSCAA Team Academic Award for the 2011-12 academic year.

Volleyball Badgers wrap up year with 3-2 loss in NAIA Opening Round

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Spring Hill college volleyball team lost a 3-2 decision to Missouri Baptist University in the Opening Round of 2012 NAIA Volleyball National Championship Tournament by the scores of 25-16, 21-25, 25-20, 25-27, 15-11 on Saturday afternoon November 17 in St. Louis.

Missouri Baptist (34-3) started with the first point in the match, but it was all square at 8-8 toward the midway point of game one as Spring Hill showed why they earned their bid to the Opening Round.

Badgers to open NAIA Playoffs in St. Louis

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has officially released the 2012 Volleyball National Championship Opening Round matches for the 33rd annual event and Spring Hill College will travel to St. Louis, Mo., on Saturday, November 17, 2012, to take on the Missouri Baptist University Spartans beginning at 1 p.m.

The Badgers (30-6, 14-0 SSAC) qualified for their second consecutive trip to the NAIA National Tournament by reaching the Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) championship match on Saturday.

SSAC honors two SHC women's soccer players

NORCROSS, Ga. – The Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) has named Spring Hill College women's soccer players Tatiana Gonzalez and Courtney Harlan to two post-season honors.

Forward Courtney Harlan of Mobile's McGill-Toolen Catholic High School was named to the 2012 SSAC All-Freshman Team after a season in which she led the Badgers in both goals scored (12) and total points (32). Harlan finished the season 6th in the SSAC in goals scored and 5th in total points.

NORCROSS, Ga. – The Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) has announced that 15 Spring Hill College student-athletes from all five fall semester sports have earned selection to the 2012 SSAC All-Academic teams.

The volleyball team placed five student-athletes on the list with men’s soccer, women’s soccer and men’s cross country each adding three members. Women’s cross country had one representative.

USA offers special ticket prices to SHC fans

MOBILE, Ala. – The University of South Alabama has announced that it will offer special admission prices for Spring Hill College students and alumni for the Badger-Jaguar exhibition men’s basketball game at the USA Mitchell Center at 7:05 p.m. Monday, Nov. 5, 2012.

All current Spring Hill College students will be allowed free admission by showing a valid Spring Hill College Student Identification Card at the Mitchell Center ticket office on the night of the event.

SHC men’s basketball teaches basics at Little Flower

MOBILE, Ala. – The Spring Hill College men’s basketball recently taught basic basketball skills to the boys and girls of Little Flower Catholic School through its “Ballin’ Badgers” program under the direction of assistant coach Brian Murphy and student assistant senior John Redman from Spanish Fort.

Junior Alex Looney of Mobile, sophomore Robert Drummond of Fairhope and freshman Quinton Campbell of Wilmer joined The Badger (a.k.a. Chris Portie) in instructing the newest Badger fans in the fundamentals of dribbling, shooting and defense.

Spring Hill College to apply for NCAA membership, join new athletic conference

MOBILE, Ala. -- Spring Hill College President Rev. Richard P. Salmi, S.J., announced today that Spring Hill College has accepted an invitation to join the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) and intends to apply for NCAA Division II membership in spring 2013.

Spring Hill has been a member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) since 1959. The decision to switch national and conference affiliations comes after nearly two years of study and planning concerning the future of the Badger athletic program.
