Severin Chambers ’14: Rugby Star Mentors Special-Needs Children

Severin Chambers can most often be found scrumming on the rugby field, showing off Spring Hill College to prospective students, and leading campus events as president of Sigma Chi fraternity.

The psychology major from Boston, Mass., at first, hadn’t considered Spring Hill as a choice for college, but decided to stop on campus while visiting other schools in the Deep South. Chambers enjoyed his tour of SHC, but made his final decision about moving to Mobile, Ala., after receiving a phone call from Spring Hill’s president.

Ashley Sanders ’13: Parlez-vous français?

As part of a rebuilding effort after Hurricane Katrina, Ashley Sanders accompanied her high school’s Habitat for Humanity club in 2008 on a trip to volunteer in Mobile, Ala. During her stay in the Port City, Sanders fell in love with the area and returned a few months later to look at colleges.

Kiva Talty ’17: Inglés Como Segunda Lengua

If life wasn’t busy enough for Kiva Talty, the Spring Hill freshman recently added another dimension to her college experience. On Thursday evenings, Talty, a rugby player and freelance photographer for The Springhillian, also spends her time talking with ESL (English as a Second Language) students from Columbia, Guatemala, El Salvador, Mexico, and Cuba.

Known for her winning smile and positive attitude, Perez exudes joy, enthusiasm, and excitement for everything she does. The pre-med student is most passionate, however, when talking about her volunteer work and SHC immersion trips.

How far would you go to make a difference in the lives of others? This summer, Spring Hill College psychology major Jessica Richardson traveled 18,000 miles to complete her most recent service project.

The senior stand-out is back from a three-week trip to Thailand, coordinated through the nation’s Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC). As a member of Spring Hill’s ROTC program, run in conjunction with the University of South Alabama, Richardson was selected from applicants all over the country to work with students at one of the country’s top military academies.

Spring Hill Sweethearts: Jennifer Moore '13 and Cody Welliver '13

Recent Spring Hill graduates Jennifer Moore and Cody Welliver are writing the next chapter of their storybook romance.

Both from Mandeville, La., Moore and Welliver began dating in the 10th grade at while Jennifer attended Dominican High School and Cody went to St. Paul’s in New Orleans. After spending the last four years as Spring Hill Badgers, the dynamic duo is off to graduate school in August.
