If you would like to help, here are three steps you can take to get started:
Inform yourself and spread the word.
Learn about poverty in your community, and the problems faced by those living in poverty. Talk about these problems, and what can be done to solve them with your friends and neighbors.
Take political action.
Let your elected officials know that you are interested in issues that affect poverty, and that you are counting on them to help. Follow their actions closely and let them know how you feel. Hold them accountable.
Find your niche and get to work.
Find an issue you are concerned with (i.e. poverty, hunger, homelessness, etc.) and contact organizations that are working on it. Select one, or, if you prefer, choose one from the sample list below. Then support it with your time, effort
and resources.
