Friday April 29
Senior BBQ5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Back lawn of Stewartfield

Seniors have one last chance to gather with our faculty and staff community before graduation on the back lawn of Stewartfield.  The dinner is sponsored by your Senior Activity Planning Committee and Student Affairs.

Sunday May 1
Climb the Cupola at Sunset6:30 p.m. to 7:45 p.m.

We invite seniors to climb the cupola at sunset and experience the breath taking views of campus and Mobile.  Make sure you sign the wall before the end of the evening.  A professional photographer will be available to take pictures in the cupola.

Wednesday May 4
Senior Class Party8:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.Join your classmates for this “Destination Unknown” party to celebrate your accomplishments on the Hill. Be on the lookout for sign-up information later this semester. This event is hosted by your Senior Activity Planning Committee and Student Affairs.Cocktail attire is recommended.
Thursday May 5
President’s Senior Celebration6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

President’s Office

President Dr. Christopher P. Puto ‘64, will host this celebratory event for all graduates.  Sponsored by the Alumni Office.  Business casual attire please.

Friday May 6
Baccalaureate Mass4:30 p.m.

The Avenue of the Oaks

No formal procession. Seating is open and graduating seniors may sit with friends and relatives. (Rain plan location: Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center)

President’s Reception5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.


All graduates, families, faculty, and staff are invited.  Hosted by the President’s Office. Light hors d’oeuvres. (Rain plan location: Student Center)

Commencement Exercises10:00 a.m.

The Avenue of the Oaks

Procession forms at 9:00 a.m. at Byrne Hall.  Graduates (Masters, BA, BS, BSN, AS, Certificates) in alphabetical order in each degree category meet on the second floor.  Faculty, administrators, and dignitaries will organize in the lower corridor of Byrne Hall. CAP AND GOWN.

After Commencement, the procession continues to the steps of Byrne Hall for the Senior Class picture before disbanding. Please be prompt!

Diploma Pick UpAfter class picture

Diplomas may be picked up at the tables near the Byrne Hall steps. All remaining diplomas will be mailed to the student’s address of record. 

Residence halls will close at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 7

Commencement Rain Plan

In the event of rain, commencement exercises will be held at the Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center, on campus, 11:00 a.m. Ushers will direct graduates, faculty, and the platform party to their dressing areas. Each graduate will receive five (5) Commencement tickets, which will be distributed at the Information Desk (Student Center), should the rain plan be invoked.

In case of rain, the decision to move the Commencement ceremony indoors will be made no later than 9:00 a.m. the day of the commencement ceremony.

Information will be available by calling 251-380-2262. An announcement will be broadcast and the telephone message activated only if the rain plan is in effect. If the events are to be held outdoors on the Avenue of the Oaks, there will be no announcement.

Public safety officers will advise arriving guests if the rain plan is in effect.
