MOBILE — MaPo Kinnord-Payton will show ceramic sculptures Jan. 29-Feb. 23 in the Eichold Gallery on the Spring Hill College campus. An opening reception is set for 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 1, followed by a gallery talk at 7 p.m.
Kinnord-Payton grew up in Cleveland, Ohio. She received her B.F.A. from the Massachusetts College of Art in Boston. From 1984 to 1992 she taught ceramics and produced functional ceramics in Massachusetts and Berkeley. Calif. She received an M.F.A. from Ohio State University in 1994. After moving to Louisiana in 1995, she is now an assistant professor of art at Xavier University and maintains a studio in New Orleans. She continues her research of ceramic architecture of Zaare, Ghana, creating video documentation of pottery and ceramic architecture construction.
The Eichold Gallery is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
