Dr. Margaret Davis named 2007-2009 Altmayer Chair
MOBILE — Dr. Margaret Davis, professor of English at Spring Hill
College, was named the 2007-2009 Altmayer Chair at the Altmayer Chair
Lecture on March 6.
Davis earned her Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts in English education from Auburn University Montgomery and her Ph.D. in English from the University of Alabama. Davis joined Spring Hill’s faculty in 1993, and she was chosen as Spring Hill College’s 2001-2002 Teacher of the Year. Prior to coming to Spring Hill, she taught at the University of West Florida, the University of Alabama, the University of South Alabama and Faulkner State Community College.
Spring Hill College benefactor Nan Altmayer established the endowed chair in literature in 1999 to recognize someone who has fostered an understanding and appreciation of literature through teaching, scholarly contributions and his or her own creation of literary works.
