Spring Hill College to host book discussion with Michael Knight
MOBILE – Friends of the Spring Hill College Library, along with the
Alabama Humanities Foundation, will sponsor a book discussion with
Michael Knight about his book “The Holiday Season” at 7 p.m. Wednesday,
Nov. 14 at Stewartfield, located on the college campus. The author will
be introduced and interviewed by Watt Key, a fiction writer from the
Mobile area.
“The Holiday Season” and its companion piece, “Love at the End of the
Year,” are hilarious and heartbreaking ruminations on the nature of
family, the power of love, and a particularly complicated time of the
year. In “The Holiday Season,” the Posey men are still trying to figure
out how to be a family three years after the death of the wife and
mother who bound them together.
Knight is the author of the award-winning novel, “Divining Rod,” and
two collections of short fiction, “Dogfight and Other Stories” and
“Goodnight, Nobody.” His stories have appeared in many publications
including The New Yorker, Esquire, The Paris Review, and Southern
Review. Knight is an Alabama native and teaches creative writing at the
University of Tennessee.
Refreshments will be served. A donation of $3 is suggested. For more
information, call (251) 380-3870.
