Annual Christus Conference to host Dr. William H. Willimon

MOBILE – Spring Hill College will welcome Dr. William Willimon, presiding bishop of North Alabama United Methodist Church, to the annual Christus Conference April 3-4.

Willimon will present “Who Will Be Saved? The Significance of Salvation in Jesus Christ” at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 3 in Byrne Memorial Hall. Admission to the lecture is free for Christus members and $5 for guests.

Willimon will present “Jesus Christ Came for Our Salvation, Implications for Christian Ministry” at 7:15 a.m. Friday, April 4 in the Louise Moorer Commons. Admission to the breakfast workshop is $5 for Christus members and $10 for guests.

Willimon was elected in July 2004 as bishop of The United Methodist Church. He leads the 157,000 Methodists and 792 pastors in North Alabama. For 20 years he was dean of the chapel and professor of Christian ministry at Duke University, Durham, N.C. He is the author of almost 60 books. His “Worship as Pastoral Care” was selected as one of the 10 most useful books for pastors in 1979 by the Academy of Parish Clergy.
