Spring Hill College Earth Day Celebration April 22
Mobile – Spring Hill College is going green. All Spring Hill College
students, faculty, staff and alumni are invited to attend an Earth Day
celebration located on the Spring Hill campus. The event will take
place in the Rydex Commons on April 22 beginning at 3 p.m. Earth Day
festivities will include fun, food, entertainment, games, prizes and
various exhibits.
Spring Hill’s 2008-2009 theme is “Renewing the Face of the Earth,” and
the Spring Hill College Earth Day committee is eager to jump-start the
campaign with this celebration. Increasing environmental
awareness on campus will encourage students to get involved and educate
themselves by taking part in pre-Earth Day festivities. The Earth Day
celebration will highlight ways to get involved in environmental
efforts on campus, as well as other general tips and ideas. Giveaways
include a new bike, reusable shopping bags and more. Water bottles will
be distributed for $1. Entertainment will be provided by a local band
made up of Spring Hill College students. Food will be “green friendly”
as well as healthy and provided by Aramark Food Services.
Environmental organizations, students, faculty and staff are working
hard in their efforts to make this event, educational, fun and
entertaining. Travis Brown, a freshman at Spring Hill, says, “Earth Day
is a great way to inform people of our needs, express concern and take
positive steps toward reaching our goal for a more carefully managed
environment.” Support Spring Hill’s efforts in increasing environmental
awareness and learn how you can improve in your environmental
practices.
