Interfaith Symposium Trialogue: "Muslims, Jews, and Christians - Together"
Jan. 11, 2009
Mobile, AL – Christus Theological Institute and Spring Hill College will host an Interfaith Symposium on Thursday, Feb. 5, 2009. The symposium will be in Byrne Memorial Hall from 7 to 9 p.m. and is free and open to the public.
Dr. John Switzer, assistant professor and director of graduate programs in theology and ministry, was commissioned by Christus to initiate an evening of interfaith conversation where Jews, Muslims and Christians could gather together to share their stories of faith. Switzer was selected because of his interest in the cause of interreligious learning. The event will not be an evening of lectures, but one of mutual conversation and learning.
Planning for the evening has been accomplished by a volunteer committee of distinguished local leaders from all three of the Abrahamic faiths. Members of the planning committee are: Mr. Husain Abdulla, Mr. Ali Celen, Ms. Phyllis Feibelman, Dr. Abdullah Ficici, Ms. Dora Finley, Mr. Umit Gunebir, Sr. Ann Henkel, O.P., Ms. Rhoda Herzog, Mr. Ahmet Sedat Kacar, Ms. Courtney Pritchard, Rabbi Steve Silberman, Rev. Ellen Sims, Dr. John Switzer, Fr. David Tokarz, and Ms. Perilla Wilson. Dr. Nader Entessar, Rabbi Steve Silberman and Rev. Ellen Sims will serve as moderators.
