Dr. John Hafner to receive Eugene Current-Garcia Award

MONROEVILLE, Ala. – Dr. John Hafner, professor of English at Spring Hill College, will receive the Eugene Current-Garcia Award at the 12th annual Alabama Writers Symposium. The symposium, whose theme is “Mystery, Murder, Mayhem & More,” is set for April 30-May 2 at Alabama Southern Community College in Monroeville. The Friday luncheon features the presentation of the Eugene Current-Garcia Award for Alabama’s Distinguished Literary Scholar for 2009.
The recipient of the Eugene Current-Garcia Award is selected by the Association of College Teachers of Alabama (ACETA), a diverse organization representing faculty at all of Alabama’s two-year, four-year and doctoral institutions. Award winners will receive a Clock Tower Bronze, an emblem of Monroeville’s literary heritage.
