Dr. Margaret Davis to present 2009 Altmayer Chair Lecture April 28

MOBILE – Dr. Margaret Davis, professor of English at Spring Hill College, will present the Altmayer Lecture at 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 28 in the Gautrelet Room on the college campus. Davis, the 2007-2009 Altmayer Chair in Endowed Literature, will present “‘Once Upon a Time’ Will Speak to the Heart.” The lecture is free and open to the public.

Davis earned a Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts in English education from Auburn University Montgomery and a Ph.D. in English from the University of Alabama. Davis joined Spring Hill’s faculty in 1993, and she was chosen as Spring Hill College’s 2001-2002 Teacher of the Year. Prior to coming to Spring Hill, she taught at the University of West Florida, the University of Alabama, the University of South Alabama and Faulkner State Community College.

Spring Hill College benefactor Nan Altmayer established the endowed chair in literature in 1999 to recognize someone who has fostered an understanding and appreciation of literature through teaching, scholarly contributions and his or her own creation of literary works.
