Spring Hill College to Host Regional Science Olympiad Feb. 6

Mobile, Ala. – Six high schools and 14 middle schools will send teams to the Regional Science Olympiad at Spring Hill College on Saturday, Feb. 6.

Designed like the traditional Olympics, students participate in skill competition in science and math. There are a series of 20 events in both disciplines and include “games” in biology, astronomy, environmental chemistry, experimental design and ecology, to name a few.

At the high school level (grades 9-12), six teams from four schools will participate:
Alabama School of Mathematics and Science
Bayside Academy
Escambia Academy
Trinity Presbyterian (Montgomery)

Middle school teams are:
Bay Minette Middle School
Brewton Middle School
Corpus Christi Catholic School
Cottage Hill Baptist
Escambia Academy
UMS-Wright Prep.
W S Neal

Each team has approximately 15 members with a coach.  Registration of tams begins at 7 a.m. and the competition concludes at 3:45 p.m. More than 500 students and parents are expected to attend the event.
