Faculty and staff service day set for Aug. 1
Mobile, Ala. – Spring Hill College faculty and staff will participate in a special community “service day” Monday, Aug. 1, 2011.
The day honors St. Ignatius Loyola, the founder of the Society of Jesus (the Jesuits), who directed the Jesuits to be “leaders in service to others.” Spring Hill College's mission is to form responsible leaders in service to others.
“The service day is an opportunity for Spring Hill College employees to work together in a common service project and make an impact on our local community,” said Dr. Samantha Church, assistant to the vice president for advancement and chair of the college’s staff advisory committee.
Spring Hill employees will volunteer at seven Mobile locations for the day: Mobile Area Food Bank, Mobile Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA), Habitat for Humanity, Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic School, Little Flower Catholic School, St. Mary’s Home and the Little Sisters of the Poor.
