SHC student center receives another construction award
Mobile, Ala. – The Alabama Concrete Institute Association (ACIA) has announced that the Spring Hill College student center has won the association’s Top Block Award. The award is given to a project that utilizes a creative masonry design and highlights the use of masonry products.
The student center was awarded first place in the institutional category for architectural design competition sponsored by the American Society of Interior Design (ASID) in June 2011.
The center opened in fall 2010 and is Mobile’s first multipurpose Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certified “green” complex. It was designed by TAG/The Architects Group and built by Vance McCown Construction.
The center houses as variety of offices, including student affairs and campus ministry, as well as a dining room, a grill, lounges, conference rooms, student organization offices and work spaces.
