Mobile, Ala. – Spring Hill College faculty and staff will participate in the college’s 3rd annual Ignatian Day of Service on Tuesday, July 31, 2012.

The day honors St. Ignatius Loyola, the founder of the Society of Jesus (the Jesuits). Ignatius directed the Jesuits to be “leaders in service to others,” and part of Spring Hill College’s mission as a Jesuit college is to “form students to become responsible leaders in service to others.”

Spring Hill employees will volunteer at seven Mobile locations for the day: Mobile Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA), Bay Area Food Bank, Habitat for Humanity, Little Flower Catholic School, Little Sisters of the Poor, Penelope’s Closet, and the Ronald McDonald House. About 80 faculty and staff members will spend a half-day building, painting, sorting clothes and food, prepping classrooms, walking dogs and socializing cats, and working in the kitchen.
