Robert Stewart named Vice President for Admissions and Financial Aid
MOBILE, Ala. – Spring Hill College President Richard P. Salmi, S.J., is pleased to announce the appointment of Robert Stewart as vice president for admissions and financial aid. Stewart, who will lead the college’s student recruitment efforts, will join the president’s leadership team Nov. 5. The vice president reports to the president and oversees the admissions and financial aid staffs.
Stewart comes to Spring Hill from Stetson University in DeLand, Fla., where he has served as director of admission since October 2011. In his current role, he is involved in developing strategies for net revenue projections and the recruitment of prospective and admitted students. Under his direction, the university saw a 40 percent increase in applications, a 15 percent increase in first-year enrollment, and an improvement in the academic profile of first-year students.
“I am pleased to welcome Bob to Spring Hill and to my cabinet. This is a critical position as we look to increase enrollment, and I am confident that he brings both the skills and personality required to help the College be successful,” said Salmi.
Stewart has also served the university as acting vice president for enrollment management and previously as director of financial aid. As vice president, the university doubled its out-of-state enrollment and saw a 62 percent increase in student diversity. As director of financial aid, Stewart managed $40 million in scholarships and $70 million in student aid.
“I am honored to be joining such a prestigious institution as Spring Hill College," Stewart said. “I am excited to work with an exceptional group of students, faculty and staff that truly cares about the spiritual, social and intellectual growth of each student."
Stewart holds a Bachelor of Arts in political science from Greensboro College in Greensboro, N.C., and a Master of Science in leadership and business ethics from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, Pa.
