Students attend regional conference for college and university residence halls
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – Four students (Juan Soto, Alyssa Fontela, Melvin Lang and Gabriel Wagner) attended a conference of the South Atlantic Affiliate of College and University Residence Halls (SAACURH), held Nov. 9-11 at East Tennessee State University. At this conference, elections were held for the state directorate for Alabama United Residence Halls (ALURH).
Juan Soto is a first-year student living in Viragh Hall. He also serves as the vice president for the Residence Hall Association and is actively involved in Students for Life. At the conference, Soto was elected to serve as the ALURH director.
Alyssa Fontela is a resident advisor in Viragh Hall. She also serves as the treasurer of the Spring Hill College chapter of the National Residence Hall Honorary and is a member of Delta Gamma. At the conference, Fontela was elected to serve as the ALURH associate director for recognition.
Adam Bernot is an area coordinator in residence life and serve as the advisor to both the Residence Hall Association and the Spring Hill College chapter of the National Residence Hall Honorary. Bernot was elected to serve as the advisor to ALURH.
ALURH is the state organization advocating for the interests and welfare of residence hall students, while also providing opportunities for their personal growth and development. It is an organization of students committed to developing leadership, honoring diversity, recognizing achievement, as well as stimulating engagement and involvement among students who reside in college and university residence halls. Through regional and national programs and services, ALURH provides leadership opportunities for students, shares residence hall programming resources and best practices, and coordinates activities with appropriate professional associations and business partners.
