Spring Hill College celebrates election of first Jesuit pope
MOBILE, Ala. – Spring Hill College celebrates the election of Jorge Mario Bergoglio, S.J., a Jesuit from Argentina, as the new pope. He has chosen the name Pope Francis.
Rev. Richard P. Salmi, S.J., president of Spring Hill College, said, “We are pleased to see a son of St. Ignatius Loyola as the Successor to the Chair of St. Peter and leader of our Church. On behalf of the college, we ask that you join us in praying for Pope Francis.”
The Spring Hill College community will pray in a special way for our new pope and the Catholic Church at the 12:15 p.m. Mass on Thursday, March 14, in St. Joseph Chapel. All are welcome.
