Sagrera named 1st Team All America

COLUMBUS, Ga. – The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) named Spring Hill College softball pitcher Caroline Sagrera as a 1st team member of its 2013 All America Team on Friday afternoon.

Sagrera, a freshman from Baton Rouge, La., was the 2013 Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) Pitcher and Freshman of the Year with a 39-11 overall record and a 1.47 ERA over 344 innings pitched. She led the nation with a school-record 482 strikeouts and recorded a school-record 18 shutouts including a no-hitter in just her second collegiate start.

On Thursday, the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) also named Sagrera to its 2013 NAIA All-East Region Team.

Sagrera is the ninth Spring Hill softball player to receive NAIA All America recognition and just the fourth Badger to achieve 1st team status.
