Matthew LeMond ’07 and Valerie Longa ’08 named among Coastal Alabama’s Best and Brightest 20-somethings
Spring Hill College alumni Matthew LeMond ’07 and Valerie (Kleinschmidt) Longa ’08 were honored as part of the Press-Register/al.com’s first “20/20 Vision” project. The project recognizes 20 bright, high-achieving citizens of coastal Alabama who have contributed to the improvement of the community.
Originally from New Orleans, LeMond, 28, is the owner of three successful Mobile businesses. He opened the popular downtown Mobile bar O’Daly's Irish Pub at age 24, Competitive Ink Screen Printing LLC in Mobile in October 2009, and a Pita Pit franchise in October 2012.
As project coordinator at the Downtown Mobile Alliance, Longa, 26, has spearheaded several initiatives to make Mobile a greener, more sustainable city, including the Cleaner, Greener LODA Committee. The group, among other things, enlists volunteers to help in recycling efforts at Mardi Gras and Bayfest.
