In addition to our master’s degree programs, Spring Hill College is also pleased to offer graduate level certificates in a variety of disciplines. Certificates can be completed while fulfilling requirements for a degree, as post-master’s work or for personal enrichment and achievement. Students must meet graduate admission requirements. Leadership & Ethics
This 12-credit certificate is designed for those who wish to enhance their knowledge of leadership and ethics. The program provides an understanding of leadership, its ethical dimensions and the context for its practical exercise for persons involved in or preparing for leadership roles in organizational settings. The graduate certificate may be completed as part of Master of Liberal Arts degree.
Certificate in Studio Art
The Graduate Certificate in Studio Art offers a unique experience that allows students to achieve a new level of skill in their selected area of study in the arts. The curriculum facilitates conceptual and technical development through studio practice. The certificate is designed for students who have achieved a level of proficiency in studio art and who desire to refine their personal focus through painting or other media, in a course of studies that is personally designed under the guidance of a member of the Fine Arts faculty. The student will clarify and further develop a conceptual basis for a cohesive body of work that is authentic and reflects the student's own artistic voice. Areas of study available include: painting, printmaking, drawing, ceramics, sculpture and photography. The Certificate requires completion of six courses in fine arts (18 semester hours) , at least four of which must be in studio art and at least one of which must be in art history. The final or capstone course is a studio course which culminates in an exhibition of the student’s work. The graduate certificate may be completed as part of degree.
The Post-Master's Certificate for Clinical Nurse Leader is designed for a registered nurse who has earned a master's degree in another nursing specialization and wishes to be eligible to take the CNL certification exam. To be granted the post-master's certificate, students must complete a minimum of nineteen (19) credit hours at Spring Hill College including 460 clinical integration hours.
This certificate is awarded to students who complete the entire thirty-hour curriculum of the Theological Studies degree program on an audit basis rather than for credit. The course requirements for the theological studies certificate may be completed at the undergraduate level for those who have not earned a bachelor’s degree.
This 18-credit certificate is designed especially for clergy, religious and lay persons with theological preparation, who seek a deeper grounding in this ministry. Requirements include four semesters of seminars plus coursework completed during the Summer Institute of Christian Spirituality. Admission is normally open every other year.
Because of the nature of spiritual direction, effective preparation for this ministry requires extensive professional training and distinctive personal qualities, as well as mature life experience. Admission is selective. The graduate certificate may be completed as part of the degree.
The 18-credit certificate is designed for those who wish to share faith and prayer with others along the journey of spiritual growth, but is not meant to be a teacher/catechist, counselor, problem solver or spiritual director.
This 18-credit certificate is a specialized certificate designed for those seeking hands-on preparation in a particular area of ministry, such as youth or family, religious education, liturgical ministry, or pastoral administration. The graduate certificate may be completed as part of the degree.
