A chapter closes for retirees

Spring Hill College said goodbye to four members of the faculty and staff who have served the College for many years.  Dr. Charles Cheney, Thomas Loehr, Dr. Mark Starr and Dottie Hempfleng retired at the end of the academic year, the three faculty members receiving emeriti status upon their retirements.

Athletic Hall of Fame inducts 30th class

The Spring Hill College Athletic Hall of Fame was started in 1972 by alumnus and former member of the SHC football team, A. B. “Troj” Meriwether, as a way to recognize former athletes who brought fame and glory to Spring Hill College. To this day, the Hall of Fame is a tradition of honor here on the Hill.

Finding Common Ground

“We were not working for the poor; rather, we were working with the poor,” Kailey Walker ’12 reflected on her service immersion experience in Belize City.

During their spring break in March, Walker and nine other Spring Hill students helped to build a house for the Wade family, who worked alongside the immersion participants every day at the work site.

Student-athletes juggle academics, sports and ROTC

Getting through four years of college while playing a varsity sport is more than enough of a challenge for most student-athletes, but for Spring Hill College students Katie Martin and Catie Palmer it is just the beginning. Martin and Palmer also spend two to three days each week on the campus of the University of South Alabama as members of the Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC).

Friends remember James F. McGah ’79 through funded scholarship
