Scholarships

The scholarship process at SHC is a competitive one that assesses a student’s entire high school record – grades, test scores, leadership achievement, and community service. All students admitted to Spring Hill College will be considered for merit scholarships.

Academic and Service

Spring Hill Scholars

Full tuition and fees scholarship offered to five students per year. Requires a separate application, cover letter, leadership and service resume and on-campus interview. Limited to students with a 3.5+ GPA and 27+ ACT. Award is renewable for all four years and does replace all Spring Hill College aid offered.

Merit Based Awards

All students admitted to Spring Hill College will be automatically considered. Awards range up to $28,000 each year and are renewable for eight semesters with satisfactory academic progress.

Foley Service Scholarships

Spring Hill College awards Service Scholarships through the Foley Community Service Center. The Foley Center places students at service program locations in the metropolitan Mobile area where they can serve others and learn about local community needs at the same time. The scholarship is valued at up to $2,000 per academic year.

Alumni and Family

Zoghby-DeVaney Memorial Scholarship

Awarded to qualified student from Mobile or Baldwin County, AL. Student must have a grandparent, parent or sibling that is an alumnus or an older sibling currently attending Spring Hill College. Awards range from $1,000 – $5,000 per year and are renewable for all four years. Money is raised for scholarship through a golf tournament.

National Alumni Association Scholarship

Awarded to qualified student who has a parent or grandparent that is an alumnus of Spring Hill College. Awards range from $1,000 – $5,000 per year and are renewable for all four years.

Legacy Grant

Given to any student with an alumnus (grandparent, parent, sibling) in the family. It is a $1,000 grant renewable for all four years.

Family Discount

Given to youngest of multiple siblings attending SHC at the same time. Award is 10% of tuition and worked into to need-based aid if student demonstrates need. If twins are enrolling each twin receives 5% of tuition. If 3 or more students are attending, every sibling but the oldest gets 10% of tuition.

Alumni Chapter Scholarships

These scholarships are administered by the Office of Alumni Programs in conjunction with the Office of Admissions for students in the Atlanta, Chicago, New Orleans and Saint Louis areas. Awards range from $1,000 to $5,000 and are renewable all four years.

Art, Incentive, and Regional

Visit Grant

Given to any incoming student that visits campus. Award is $1,000 one-time only; not renewable.

Citizenship

Amounts varied between $500 and $3,000. Renewable for all four years.

In rewarding achievement in all areas of endeavor, Spring Hill College seeks to award students who will enrich our community of learners as they embody the high value we place on service and commitment to both academics and/or all other areas of endeavor. Special consideration will be given to students who demonstrate focused activity and effort and/or leadership that has impacted their classmates, schools, workplaces or communities. Consideration will also be given to applicants who have demonstrated resilience in the face of hardships, disability, difficult personal situations or other disadvantage.

Citizenship awards recognize students in any one or more of the following categories:

  • Significant participation in community service, civic participation or any other extracurricular activities
  • Work experience and entrepreneurship
  • Resilience in the face of hardship or disadvantage
  • Promoting equity and understanding
  • Outstanding leadership
  • Distinction in the arts, humanities or sciences

Brunini

Given to a student who resides in the Catholic Diocese of Jackson, MS. Students must apply separately and include a letter of recommendation from a parish priest. Award is $4,000 and is renewable for all four years.

The DeWine Family Scholarship

Established in 2014 by Mike and Fran DeWine, the DeWine Family Scholarship benefits students who otherwise would not be able to attend Spring Hill College. First priority will be given to students from Ohio or within a 50-mile radius of Spring Hill’s campus. Students who have been part of the foster care system will receive preferential consideration. Students must be Pell Grant eligible. Those who apply will be asked to provide additional information for this application.

Goizueta Foundation Scholarship

Awarded to a Hispanic/Latino student who demonstrates leadership skills and a passion for service. Student will be asked to submit an additional essay in order to complete the application for this scholarship. Must be a U.S Citizen. Valued at $28,000 annually.

Transfer Students

Phi Theta Kappa

Given to incoming transfer students that are in a chapter of Phi Theta Kappa at their previous institution. To be given up to $2,500 at the transfer recruiter’s discretion.

Transfer Students

Tuition only scholarships ranging from $12,000 – $19,500 annually. A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher is expected, as well as evidence of leadership or college/community service.

Athletic Scholarships

Athletic scholarships are awarded through the athletic department. Spring Hill College is a candidacy year 2 member of NCAA Division II. For further information regarding athletic scholarships, please contact the head coach for the sport(s) in which you are interested. Spring Hill College has ROTC program agreements with the Army and Air Force both located at the University of South Alabama.
