Below are policies that are specific to the Psychology program at Spring Hill College.

Policies

Class Retake Policy

No student may retake an upper-level core class by appointment (i.e., independent study or tutorial).

Drop Policy

The SHC Psychology program has a policy in place that no psychology professor will drop you from the class after the student withdrawal date. That means students will not be assigned any WP or WF grades for excessive absences. If you qualify for an Incomplete in the class, it must be arranged prior to the last week of class; no exceptions.

Exit Exam Policy

All majors will be required to take the ETS Major Field Test in Psychology during their senior year.

Independent Studies and Tutorials Policy

The Social Sciences Division follows the policies for Independent Study and Tutorial courses listed in this bulletin. Additionally, due to faculty workload issues, the division has adopted a policy that normally permits a faculty member to offer only one Independent Study or Tutorial course per semester during the regular academic year and if there is an exception it needs to be approved by the Division Chair. Faculty members are permitted to offer more of these courses during the summer terms.

Teaching Assistant Policy

Transfer Credit Policy

The following policy for transient credit (before or after matriculation) was established:

  • Credit will not be allowed for upper level core – i.e., PSY 350, 446, 450, or 468
  • Credit may be allowed for upper level menu options (i.e., PSY 300, 322, 364, 375, 420, 445) or social statistics (PSY 263 & PSY 264) pending approval by the program faculty members.

Credit will be accepted for lower level menu requirements (e.g., PSY 204, 225) pending approval of course description by the program director.
