Program Overview

Interested in taking a range of classes—perhaps forensics, biochemistry, Spanish, and art, before officially declaring a major? Or, would you like to design a major of your own? The General Studies major is the perfect fit for students with broad interests and a love of learning.

The General Studies degree provides students the ability to explore a broad range of courses to develop new skills or investigate a personal interest. Students may decide to design a major of their own, subject to consultation with an advisor and the approval of a faculty committee. Students may also wish to pursue a concentration, which is optional, and provides students the opportunity to develop in-depth knowledge in a secondary field.

We offer part-time, evening, weekend, and online courses to fit our students’ busy schedules.

Program Goals

The General Studies major emphasizes a wide distribution of courses rather than a concentration within a specific area. You’ll have the freedom to select courses according to your own needs, interests and career goals. This flexibility provides a well-rounded, liberal arts education in a number of areas targeted toward your professional and/or personal interests.

Career Outlook

Graduates of our general studies program have the opportunity to forge their own paths with a degree that fits their dreams. Whether you want to go into the professional world or graduate school, this bachelor’s degree program helps ensure you’ll be real world ready upon graduation.
