2021 HEERF II Grant
In December 2020, the President signed the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act, 2021 (CRRSAA). From this, in January 2021 the U.S. Department of Education announced the dollar amount of funds that would be available to higher education institutions to assist with the continuing studies of students during the COVID-19 pandemic. Spring Hill College received $686,341 in funds from the 2021 CRRSSA act to award to our students in need.
In order to qualify for the 2021 HEERF II grants, the student must:
- be currently enrolled at Spring Hill College, and
- be a U.S. citizen or national, permanent resident, or other eligible non-citizen per the federal financial aid guidelines.
The CRRSAA requires that institutions prioritize students with exceptional need, such as students who receive Pell Grants.
As of April 19, 2021, the $686,341 in HEERF II funds were awarded to 1,090 Spring Hill College students ranging from $400 up to $2,340 per award. All qualifying students were awarded a base award of $400. Students with Spring 2021 Pell grants were awarded additional funds in addition to the base award of $400. The students with Spring 2021 Pell grants made up 32.5% of the 1,090 individual student awards. The Pell grant recipients received 56.8% of the total $686,341 in HEERF II funds.
