Who is considered an international student?

  • Any student who does not have United States citizenship or is not a permanent resident of the United States
  • Any student who is “in process” to receive U.S. permanent residency
  • Any student who may live in the country without appropriate immigration documentation

Admission Procedures for International Students

International Applicants Requirements – Freshmen

All documents must be officially translated into English.

  • Application for admission
  • Students should submit a copy of their passport to admit@shc.edu.
  • Letter of recommendation from a guidance counselor or an academic instructor
  • Secondary school academic records, both in the original language and certified English translation. The original language records must be official school records–sent directly to Spring Hill College by the school–and must bear the official stamp or seal of the school. Certified copies, if sent by the school and bearing the stamp or seal of the school, are acceptable. All foreign secondary school transcripts which are not from a school where English is the language in which the courses are taught must be evaluated by an approved evaluation service such as naces.org.
  • Unless your high school instruction was in English for the entirety of your time in high school, proof of your English proficiency is required. Spring Hill accepts TOEFL, IELTS and Duolingo results.
  • Proof of financial resources showing your ability to cover expenses for your first academic year at Spring Hill College**
  • There is no fee to apply!

International Applicants Requirements – Transfer

  • Letter of recommendation from the Dean of Students from the last institution attended
  • List of current courses previously taken at a college or university.
  • Transcripts from all colleges and universities attended or currently attending. These records must be official school records – sent directly to Spring Hill College by the school – and must bear the official stamp or seal of the school. Certified copies, if sent by the school and bearing the stamp or seal of the school, are acceptable. All college and university courses taken at foreign institutions must be evaluated by an approved evaluation service (naces.org) if the courses were not taught in English.
  • Secondary school academic records, both in the original language and certified English translation, are required if you have fewer than 20 credit hours at the college and university level. If the courses were not taught in English, the courses must be evaluated by an approved evaluation service (naces.org).
  • Unless the instruction was in English, proof of English proficiency is required. Spring Hill accepts TOEFL, IELTS and Duolingo results.*
  • Proof of financial resources showing your ability to cover expenses for your first academic year at Spring Hill College**
  • There is no fee to apply!

*Official test results and a minimum score of a 71 on the computer-based TOEFL or a minimum of 6.0 on the IELTS, or a minimum of a 105 on the Duolingo English Test, is required. (SHC’s code is 1733)

**Proof of financial resources include one of the following:

  • An affidavit of support and a confidential bank statement from your, a relative, or personal sponsor showing that sufficient funds are available.
  • A sponsorship letter from a government agency, organization, institution, or school.
