As part of our dedication to a Jesuit education, Spring Hill College forms men and women in service to others. On the Spring Hill College campus, we follow the example of St. Ignatius of Loyola, who founded the Jesuit order in 1540. He believed that in order to change the world, you must first change yourself. In the Ignatian tradition, we encourage you to think critically, act justly, reflect profoundly, and experience wholly.

At Spring Hill, we feel so strongly about the importance of helping others, we have included service-learning courses in our academic curriculum. You will have the opportunity to explore the work you love, gain practical work experience, and provide a critical service to the community.

Albert S. Foley, S.J. Community Service Center

The Foley Center places students at programs where they can serve others and learn about community needs at the same time. Service opportunities include tutoring at middle schools and elementary schools; teaching English as a second language; working with hospice, clinic, and hospital patients; and serving at community centers and the Boys & Girls Club.

All these programs give students a concrete way to help another person, to know a person they might never meet otherwise, and take responsibility for the world they live in.
