Grants

Spring Hill College participates in several of the federal government’s higher education grant assistance programs. In order to receive funding from any of the programs listed below, you must file the FAFSA as an incoming student to determine your aid and then each year that you remain in school.

Federal Pell Grant Program

This is a federal entitlement program providing grants to eligible students. The amount of each grant is determined by review of the FAFSA results. Learn more.

Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant Program (FSEOG)

The FSEOG is a program that may be available to students who demonstrate exceptional financial need and are Federal Pell Grant recipients. Only a limited number of FSEOG grants can be offered each year. Learn more.

Visit Grant

Incoming Fall 2023 students who come on an official Spring Hill College campus visit can earn a $500 annual visit grant added to their financial aid package, up to $2,000 over four years. Learn more.

Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) Grant

The HRSA Grant is available to students pursuing a Nursing degree who meet certain criteria. Learn more.

Federal Teacher Education Assistance for College and Higher Education (TEACH) Grant

The grant provides up to $4,000 per year to students who intend to teach in a public or private elementary or secondary school that serves students from low-income families. Students applying for this grant must be pursuing a degree in education. Students should contact Dr. Paige Raney at praney@shc.edu to start their application process or if they have any questions. Alabama Student Grant Program (ASGP)

The Alabama Student Grant program provides financial assistance to Alabama residents for undergraduate, nonsectarian, secular education at independent, nonprofit, post-secondary institutions of higher learning located within the State of Alabama. Children of Fallen Heroes Scholarship

On March 23, 2018 the President signed Public Law 115-141, authorizing the Children of Fallen Heroes Scholarship. Under this scholarship a Pell-eligible student whose parent or guardian died in the line of duty while performing as a public safety officer is eligible to receive a maximum Pell Grant for the offer year for which the determination of eligibility is made.
