Mobile, Ala. – Spring Hill College’s Division of Education receives national recognition for its excellence in educator preparation. The Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) announced that Spring Hill is one of 30 schools from 18 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico that earned accreditation for its educator preparation program.
The CAEP is a nationally recognized accrediting body for educator preparation. The organization was created by the consolidation of the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education and the Teacher Education Accreditation. Accreditation is a non-governmental activity based on peer review that serves the dual functions of assuring quality and promoting improvement.
CAEP held its fall 2024 review in October. During this review period, several educator programs were judged under rigorous nationally recognized CAEP Teacher Preparation Standards. Approximately, 600 educator preparation providers participate in the CAEP Accreditation system. Schools must reapply for accreditation every seven years and continue updating the council on its improvement every year.
This marks Spring Hill’s first CAEP accreditation. The review highlights the program’s highly skilled professors, the ability to create a comfortable culture for learning, and giving students ample opportunities for field experience in a variety of classrooms.
Dr. Paige Dannelley, Education Division Chair, emphasized the program’s strong reputation and the success of its graduates.
“Our students are in high demand. Marketing them is easy because they are of such high quality. For our graduates, it’s not a question of whether they’ll have a job—it’s about choosing the best fit, as many receive three or four offers. We ensure they are day-one-ready, meaning they are confident and fully prepared to excel in the classroom,” said Dr. Dannelley.
Spring Hill College offers several Bachelor of Science degrees in education ranging from Elementary Education, K-12 Visual Arts, Secondary Biology education, and Secondary English Language Arts Education. To learn more or to apply, visit Spring Hill College.
