Reclaiming Space, Grant Benoit – Eichold Gallery

February 15- March 11, 2016

Opening Reception, Thurs., Feb. 25, 5pm – 7pm

Grant Benoit received his Master of Fine Arts in Printmaking from Southern Illinois University in 2015, and his Bachelor of Arts in Studio Arts from Spring Hill College in 2012. Exploring the idea of the multiple in printmaking, Benoit works outside of the white margin of the edition, using traditional and digital printmaking methods in sculpture, installation, and artist books.

Benoit is interested in narrative, place, and more specifically memory. In his practice, Benoit combines traditional printmedia with installation and sculpture to reinterpret the mechanics of memory in more human ways through the lens of the domestic space. Benoit exhibits nationally and internationally, most recently being selected to exhibit work at the DEMO Project in Springfield, IL, Williamson Museum in Wirral, England, and Spring Hill College in Mobile, AL.

Benoit currently resides in Natchez, MS, the oldest continuous settlement east of the Mississippi where he teaches at Copiah Lincoln Community College and is a studio assistant at Natchez Pottery, where he maintains a mixed used studio.
