Nicolas Wood is an associate professor of history at Spring Hill College. His research and teaching interests center around the issues of slavery, abolitionism, race, religion, and politics in America from the colonial era through the Civil War. His first book, Let the Oppressed Go Free: The Revolutionary Generation of American Abolitionists, reveals how tenacious activism by Quakers,
African Americans, and antislavery evangelicals made abolitionism central to the American Revolution. It will be released in November 2025.
