(Mobile, Ala.) Spring Hill College gained recognition as one of the best schools in the nation to offer online learning for master’s degrees in 2024. The ranking comes from OnlineMastersDegrees.org (OMD), with only nine percent of U.S. colleges and universities earning a spot on the distinguished list.
The College’s online Master of Business Administration program received significant acclaim for its flexibility, affordability and many resources.
OMD used the following metrics for its ranking system:
- Graduate student tuition
- Number of online programs
- Number of graduate students in online courses
- Student-to-faculty ratio
- Graduate student acceptance rate
- Academic counseling services
- Career placement services
The site reviews over 7,700 accredited schools and gives graduate students guidance on financial aid, scholarships and additional resources. OMD exposes students to colleges and universities from all around the country.
As Spring Hill rejoices in this achievement, studies show a national drop in the pursuance of graduate-level education. The Council of Graduate Schools’ 2023 report says enrollment in the U.S. sank nearly five percent from Fall 2021 to Fall 2022, although applications spiked.
The report attributes the decrease in enrollment of advanced degrees to “uncertainty in the value.” Students are unsure about the benefits and feasibility of a master’s program. With OMD’s rankings it could help students find an accredited graduate-level program with invaluable qualities that would best suit them. They can then feel more empowered in making the right decision for their academic career.
“With more students questioning whether a master’s degree is worth the investment, it is important to highlight the schools offering the best value,” said Kyle Darland, co-founder of OMD. “For the OMD rankings, this started with regionally accredited institutions with the lowest net costs. This includes tuition and fees but also looks at the amount of institutional aid their grad students receive. Overall cost is a major factor in most enrollment decisions.”

It ranked No. 1 in Best Online MBA in Leadership Degree Programs. Additionally, the program placed No. 2 in Best Online Master’s Degrees in Supply Chain Management and Best Online MBA Programs in Project Management.
