On Saturday, February 15, students engaged in meaningful volunteer service throughout the city as part of their first-year Pathways course. Pathways partnered with Campus Ministry to arrange volunteer placements at local organizations, providing a variety of avenues for students to make a difference in their community.
Here’s a look at where our students gave their time and energy:
- Ronald McDonald House: Students supported families in need, contributing to the house’s mission of offering comfort and care.
- Little Sisters of the Poor: Volunteers brought joy by assisting with bingo games, brightening the residents’ day.
- City of Mobile Animal Shelter: Animal lovers hit the streets, taking dogs on walks and giving them some much-needed exercise and companionship.
- Mobile County Recycling Center: Students sorted and processed recyclable materials, helping the environment while learning about sustainable practices.
- First Light Community: Volunteers pitched in with landscaping and lawn care, improving the appearance of one of First Light’s residences.
- Coastal Alabama Down Syndrome Society: Students enjoyed a fun-filled day of helping organize their Mardi Gras parade, contributing to a beloved community event.
These impactful experiences reflect the Pathways course’s commitment to community engagement and outreach, showing our students how they can give back while learning and growing together. See the gallery for pictures from service day!
