Spring Hill Invites Community to Attend 2024 Summer Programs

(Mobile, Ala.) Want to have some educational fun at Spring Hill over the summer? We have six summer programs open to the entire community for registration. Enroll now to take up a new skill or hobby.

2D/3D ART CAMP (For ages 16+): 

Explore different art techniques with Ceramic Hand-building (3D) and Perceptual Drawing (2D) from May 27-31. Ceramic students will grasp the basics of pottery, such as pinch pots, coiling, and slab construction. Drawing students will delve into three-dimensional designs on a two-dimensional surface.  

Each camp separately is $160, but for both, it’s $250. 3D students meet from 9-11:30 a.m., while 2D meets 12-2:30 p.m. The camp will meet in the Murphy Fine Arts Building.

ART HISTORY SESSIONS (For ages 18+):

Brush up on some lessons in art history. From June 3-7, you can journey into the evolution of American Art for $120. The classes begin at noon and end at 1:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. 

The Future (and past) is Femme sessions are from May 29 to June 26, with wine included, at a cost of $170. You will have a chance to see femme in many art periods. Participants meet on Wednesdays at 7-8:30 p.m.

PHOTOGRAPHY LESSONS (For ages 18+):

Have an interest in photography? Zoom in on this opportunity to learn from professional photographers and filmmakers. During the sessions, DSLRs will be available.   

Class #1 is on Thursdays at 6-7 p.m. from May 30 to June 27. Class #2 is on Tuesdays at 6-7 p.m. from June 11 to July 9. All classes, $100/session, are in Burke Library 031.

ACT BOOTCAMP (For ages 15-18):

Get ahead of the college curb with our ACT Bootcamp from July 9-11. For three days and two nights, teens will acquire the tools to better their ACT score, at an all-inclusive cost of $1,000. The day before ACT testing on July 13, an optional review session will be open to them. Students can also play games and activities during the morning hours for a dip into college life.

DANCE LESSONS (For ages 16+):

Groove your way onto our campus and have your dancing shoes at the ready. Become masters of the Foxtrot and Cajun Swing Dance to prepare ahead of Mardi Gras balls. With our experienced dance instructor, you will have some impressive moves in your arsenal.  

Foxtrot and Swing Dancing are on Tuesdays at 6-7 p.m. from May 28 to June 25. Cajun Swing Dancing will also be 6-7 p.m. on Tuesdays, but from July 9 to Aug. 5. Registration is $45/person.

YOGA CAMP (For ages 18+):

Need to find your Zen? Make your way to Southern Living’s “most beautiful college campus in the south.” The camp will be at Eichold Gallery, and from Aug. 2-8 at 9-10:15 a.m. All seven classes cost $210. 

Each class is a different theme:

  • Day 1 – Yoga for increased brain function & learning capacity (neuroplasticity) 
  • Day 2 – Yoga for mental health 
  • Day 3 – Yoga for balance 
  • Day 4 – Yoga for restoring natural movement 
  • Day 5 – Yoga for enhancing mood 
  • Day 6 – Yoga for better sleep 
  • Day 7 – Yoga—Play is the Way—Yoga for Fun—Putting it all together
