Writing fosters a wide range of abilities that are indispensable in any sphere of life—critical thinking, shaping ideas, using words precisely, adapting to a specific audience, developing creativity and imagination. With a minor in English, students will be able to hone in on these abilities and utilize them in a plethora of professional fields.

This program provides a foundational knowledge of the English language and literature to help prepare graduates for a long and successful career where they’ll constantly utilize the critical thinking, writing, and creative skills that they learn at Spring Hill College.
Because of its scope and flexibility, the English minor helps to prepare students for success in a variety of professional and leadership roles. It provides an excellent background for advanced graduate work in areas such as the humanities, law, medicine, library science, or business. Our graduates often work in journalism, the arts, become teachers or professional/technical writers.
