Immunizations

⚠️ Your immunization requirements are not complete until you receive a confirmation email from Badgers Health stating that your documentation has been reviewed and approved. Submission of forms does not automatically indicate compliance.

Prior to Orientation

All new students are required to submit a completed Badger Health Immunization Form (BHIF) before attending Orientation.

Have your healthcare provider complete and sign the BHIF, then email the completed form to BadgersHealth@shc.edu.

Do not upload the BHIF to Canvas. The completed form must be submitted via email.

After your form has been reviewed, you will receive a confirmation email indicating that your immunization documentation has been received and processed.

Important

Your immunization requirements are not complete until you receive a confirmation email from Badgers Health stating that your documentation has been reviewed and approved.

Submitting your forms does not automatically indicate that your immunization requirements have been satisfied.

Required Immunizations

Measles, Mumps, and Rubella (MMR)

The Badger Health Immunization Form (BHIF) must include documentation of one of the following:

  • Two doses of a measles-containing vaccine, with at least one dose being the MMR (Measles, Mumps, and Rubella) vaccine, OR
  • Laboratory documentation demonstrating immunity (positive titers) to measles, mumps, and rubella.

Tetanus, Diphtheria, and Pertussis (TDaP)

Students must provide documentation of a TDaP booster received within the past 10 years.

Tuberculosis (TB) Screening

All new incoming students are required to complete Tuberculosis (TB) screening before enrollment.

Acceptable TB screening methods include:

  • QuantiFERON-TB Gold (blood test)
  • T-SPOT.TB (blood test)
  • Tuberculin Skin Test (PPD)

The TB screening must be performed using an FDA-approved test.

Your healthcare provider must record the test results in the Tuberculosis section of the Badger Health Immunization Form.

All international students and students living in campus housing must provide documentation of one dose of a MenACWY vaccine received within the past 10 years.

Accepted MenACWY vaccines include:

  • Menactra

Please note: MenB vaccines (Bexsero and Trumenba) do not satisfy this requirement and will not be accepted in place of a MenACWY vaccine.

Start Early!

Some immunizations require multiple doses administered several weeks apart, and laboratory testing may require additional processing time.

We strongly encourage you to begin completing your immunization requirements as early as possible to avoid delays in registration, housing, or move-in.

Do Not Submit Your immunization records

Your immunization record (commonly referred to in Alabama as a Blue Card) does not satisfy Spring Hill College’s immunization documentation requirements and should not be submitted by itself.

The completed Badger Health Immunization Form (BHIF) is the only document accepted to verify your immunization requirements.

You may provide your Blue Card or other immunization records to your healthcare provider to assist them in completing the BHIF. However, only the completed BHIF should be submitted to Spring Hill College.

Common Reasons Forms Are Returned

Your documentation may be delayed if:

  • Required information is missing.
  • One or both healthcare provider signature sections are incomplete.
  • TB screening results are missing.
  • Vaccine dates are incomplete.
  • The form is difficult to read or the uploaded image is blurry.
  • The BHIF is uploaded to Canvas instead of emailed.
  • State immunization printouts or Blue Cards are submitted instead of the completed BHIF.

Frequently Asked Questions

What if I can’t find my immunization records?

Contact your healthcare provider, local health department, previous school, or your state’s immunization registry. If your records cannot be located, your healthcare provider can discuss whether revaccination or laboratory titers are appropriate.

What are titers?

Titers are blood tests that determine whether you have immunity to certain diseases. Positive titers for measles, mumps, and rubella may be submitted in place of vaccination records.

How will I know my forms were received?

Once your documentation has been reviewed and processed, you will receive a confirmation email from Badgers Health.

Can I submit my Alabama Blue Card or immunization records?

No. The immunization records such as the Blue Card do not satisfy Spring Hill College’s immunization requirements. The completed BHIF must be submitted.

What if I do not receive immunizations?

Students are expected to meet Spring Hill College’s immunization requirements prior to enrollment.

If you are unable to receive one or more required immunizations because of a medical condition or sincerely held religious belief, please contact Badgers Health as soon as possible to discuss the exemption process and any required documentation.

Students requesting an exemption should begin the process early, as additional documentation or review may be required.
