Nursing Program

The Master’s of Science in Nursing (MSN) program is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). This program has been closed and the College is awaiting SACSCOC approval of the teachout plan. The Baccalaureate Degree Program in Nursing at Spring Hill College is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (http://www.ccneaccreditation.org) and has been reviewed by the Alabama Board of Nursing and found to be in compliance with their standards.

Students in the BSN program at Spring Hill College conduct their clinicals in the state of Alabama.

Licensure requirements for nursing vary by state. All states require graduation from an approved nursing program in order to be eligible to sit for the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX). Passing the NCLEX is required for initial registered nurse licensure.

Nursing graduates may obtain either a single-state nursing license, which authorizes practice only in the state that issued the license, or a multistate license, if eligible.  Multistate licensure is governed by the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) and is available to nurses whose primary state of residence is a participating compact state. Nurses holding a multistate license may practice in other NLC-participating states in accordance with compact rules.

Because licensure requirements vary by state and are subject to change, current and prospective students are encouraged to contact the Board of Nursing in the state where they intend to seek licensure for the most up-to-date information. Additional licensure information is available through the National Council of State Boards of Nursing website and NC-SARA’s Professional Licensure Directory.
