Spring Hill College to host 12th annual Zoghby-DeVaney Golf Tournament Sept. 24

Mobile, Ala. — Spring Hill College will host the 12th annual Zoghby-DeVaney Memorial Scholarship Golf Tournament at 1 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 24 at the Spring Hill College Golf Course. The event will be a four-person scramble followed by an awards dinner. Interested participants are invited to celebrate Mass before the tournament at 11 a.m. in St. Joseph Chapel.

(Mobile, AL) — Sally Baffour, internationally noted advocate of adoption as the ethical alternative to abortion, will speak at Spring Hill College Tuesday, Nov. 28 at 7:30 p.m. in The Gautrelet Room. Her lecture, titled “An African Woman’s Spiritual Journey,” is sponsored by Alpha Sigma Nu honorary society as part of its celebration of the selection and induction of 27 new student members for the 2006-2007.

MOBILE — Spring Hill College’s annual Christus Theological Institute Lecture Series will begin Thursday, Sept. 14, when Lee Walker, director of Family Promise of Coastal Alabama, presents “Interfaith Hospitality in Action: A Shelter Program for Homeless Children and Their Families.” The lecture will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. in Byrne Memorial Hall on the College campus. Use the entrance on Old Shell Road and follow the signs. Admission is free for Christus members and $2 for guests.

Rev. Daniel Creagan, S.J., to show paintings Jan. 8-31

MOBILE — The Rev. Daniel Creagan, S.J., will show “A Celebration of Realism” Jan. 8-31, 2007, at Stewartfield on the Spring Hill College campus. An opening reception is set for 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 7. 

Creagan established the fine arts department at Spring Hill College and taught art and music from 1960 to 1983. He recently returned to the college as senior Jesuit. The retrospective exhibit will feature more than 35 oil paintings from the past nine years.

MOBILE — Spring Hill College will host “Music in Jesuits: A Celebration of the Musical Spirit in the Society of Jesus” at 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 30 in St. Joseph Chapel on the college campus, followed by a reception on the Rydex Commons. The event is free and open to the public.

MOBILE — Between Dec. 15 and Dec. 24, any player or customer at the Spring Hill College Golf Course who makes a purchase of $20 or less will receive a $1 discount if they bring in a canned good. Any purchase of $20 or more can be discounted up to $8.00. Players bringing in 8 canned goods will receive an $8 discount off of their $20, or more, purchase. This offer is good for golf and merchandise.
