Rev. James Keenan, S.J., to speak at Christus Lecture on Nov. 9

MOBILE — Spring Hill College’s Christus Lecture Series will continue from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 9 in Byrne Memorial Hall on the college campus. The Rev. James Keenan, S.J., professor of theological ethics at Boston College, will present “The Letters of St. Paul and the Ordinary Moral Life.” The lecture is free for Christus members and $2 for guests.

Spring Hill College students continue work in Bayou La Batre on Jan. 27

MOBILE — Spring Hill College students, along with faculty and staff, will continue their work in Bayou La Batre, Ala., at the next “Saturday in Service” on Jan. 27. The group will gather at 8:30 a.m. in front of Mobile Hall and will return by 2 p.m. Projects include painting a shed, putting down flooring and carpeting, clearing land for the Boys and Girls Club, and cleaning out a garage apartment. 

Spring Hill College welcomes record-breaking freshman class

MOBILE — When Spring Hill College students return to class on Aug. 21, they will be joined by 353 freshmen, the largest freshman class in the history of the college.

This year marks Spring Hill’s eighth consecutive year of record enrollment of traditional undergraduates at 1,125 students, a 10 percent increase from last year. The second largest freshman class consisted of 314 students, who entered Spring Hill in 2004.

Jewish-Christian Dialogue to show “The Pasion of Sister Rose” Oct. 30

MOBILE — The Mobile Jewish-Christian Dialogue will show “The Passion of Sister Rose” at 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 30, in Byrne Memorial Hall on the Spring Hill College campus. The Rev. John Pawlikowski will comment on the film.

The film was nominated for an Academy Award in the documentary category in 2006. Pawlikowski appears in the film and was a close friend and ally of Sister Rose, who died earlier this year. This event is sponsored in partnership with the Jewish Film Festival.
